Chicago Kids Learn Sports Vision with the Cubs

Against the background of Wrigley Field, America's most famous ivy-covered wall, the Chicago Cubs and VSP treated 50 kids to a sports vision clinic the morning of September 18.

Local VSP network doctors led sports vision drills:

  • Kids tried to hit baseballs while wearing vision-distorting goggles
  • Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich pitched in, assisting with batting practice
  • Kids learned visual techniques for tracking the ball from the pitcher's hand to home plate
  • Cubs outfielder Matt Murton led fielding drills.

At the end of the clinic, Cubs manager Dusty Baker spoke to the kids about the importance of taking care of their vision.
